Susan Colman - Of Counsel
Ms. Colman is an attorney with more than 10 years of experience as a computer scientist, and has been in practice, predominantly as a sole practitioner, for almost 40 years. She has extensive trademark and copyright experience, as well as a computer law practice, which includes hardware, software and database protection and licensing. As a former computer programmer, with diverse systems and applications experience, she is able to communicate with technology clients in their own language. Ms. Colman has also published and lectured worldwide on these topics.
Ms. Colman was invited to originate and teach a five-day course in Legal Aspects of E-Commerce at the International Law Institute in Kampala, Uganda in 2003. She continues to explore business opportunities in Africa, as well as in other parts of the world.
Ms. Colman is an AV-rated attorney and represents clients in creating and protecting their brands and protect their underlying goods and services, as necessary. She also works with those who wish to discover, develop and protect their intellectual property assets.
Ms. Colman received a B.S. in Mathematics, with a dual minor in Physics and Chemistry, from the University of Michigan. She received her J.D. in 1981 from what is now called UNH-Franklin Pierce School of Law in Concord, New Hampshire. Prior to that, she successfully completed a four-credit hour survey course in Swedish law, in Swedish, taught by the law faculty at Stockholm University in Sweden in 1977.
Ms. Colman is a member of the District of Columbia and Massachusetts Bars and the District Court of the District of Columbia.
Ms. Colman is fluent in Swedish, and reads Swedish, Norwegian and Danish.
